Development Organization Wins Award

Central New York Technology Development Organization has been recognized by the Northeastern Industrial Developers Association (NIDA) in its 1996 Annual Literature and Promotion Awards Competition. Central New York Technology Development Organization has received the Superior Award in Category 13 - Special Events, for "Third Annual Technology Development Forum." The Technology Development Forum is the CNYTDO's premier "outreach" event. It is designed to provide attendees with valuable information on how to start up and grow their technology-based small business. The theme of the 1996 Technology Development forum was "Using Information Technology to Grow Your Company." Sessions were led by experts in such areas as electronic commerce, the World Wide Web, mapping information, and rapid prototyping. the 1996 even also included a trade fair, which featured 22 emerging information technology-oriented companies and resources in Central New York.

The NIDA Literature and Promotion Awards Competition recognizes the best efforts of economic development organizations in creating marketing materials that will attract and retain business and industry and promote tourism and growth in their respective communities. The awards given were Best of Class, Superior, Excellent and Merit in each of four different budget levels. Three additional awards were presented: Best of Show (selected from all entries judged Best of Class), President's Award (selected from all entries) and a Special Recognition for use of New Technology. All 110 entries were judged on design and layout, clarity of message, production quality, functionality, and overall creativity and impact.

The Northeastern Industrial Developers Association is an organization of more than 400 economic developers representing the eleven Northeastern states. The 1997 Technology Development Forum is in the planning stages and tentatively scheduled for the month of May.
