Industrial Technology
Extension Service
The CNYTDO offers the Industrial Technology Extension Service (ITES)
program to small and medium-sized manufacturers in the five-county Central
New York region. As partial funding is provided by the New York State
Science and Technology Foundation, the majority of the work ITES performs
is low in cost. The ITES program is tightly integrated with the federally
sponsored MEP program.
Consultations on issues
like management, technology, training, and operations as well as information
on low-cost funding or grants are provided by ITES. ITES is a sounding
board for manufacturers' problems or ideas. For example:
- Defining opportunities or problems
related to productivity and competitiveness;
- Identifying the best technical responses;
- Locating referrals and financing
sources;
- Assisting with project implementation;
and,
- Gaining access to services from
a variety of sources, from product innovation to human resources.
Additional ITES services
include the following:
Regional Industrial Specialist
Visits
- Includes an introductory visit
to learn the firm's operations and needs
- Follow-up visits, if needed, to
pursue specific areas in detail with key personnel and provide limited
consulting services
- Written recommendations for near-term
productivity improvement and referral services
Technical Assistance
Projects
- The Technical Assistance Project
report answers questions on technical management, planning or product
development subjects related to the firm's opportunities or problems,
providing data searches, evaluation, design, and/or analysis.
Seminars
and Workshops
ITES sponsors seminars and
workshops on a variety of industry-specific topics, plus programs on
ISO 9000, Total Quality Management, business financing, and marketing.
